Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ leader remembered
May 05, 2020
John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since January 2011, passed away in February following complications from a bicycle accident.
Under John’s direction, CMN Hospitals raised record-breaking funds each year for its 170 member hospitals, including Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and medical care.
“John dedicated the last nine years of his life to raising money for the benefit of children’s hospitals and the people who rely on them each day,” said Rachel Bruni, executive director, cause marketing and retail fundraising, Children’s Hospital Foundation. “His passion for doing the right thing and his desire to be such a big part of helping families mend their children was inspiring.”
John was an avid outdoor sportsman and competed at an elite level in both road racing and mountain biking. Since 1980, he cycled more than 200,000 miles, and in 2015 he won the USA Cycling National Championship.
We extend our sympathies to John’s family, friends and colleagues.
